Regent Brass is set to expand their organisation next month, with the launch of their new ‘B’ band.
Musical Director Alan Duguid:-
After a great deal of discussion about ways to encourage brass playing within central London, we decided there was a real opportunity to establish another band in the area. Regent Brass itself started life as a youth band linked to the Brent Music Service, so this presents a fantastic opportunity for us to provide an outlet once again for brass musicians young and old to get involved in playing in a local band.
The band itself will rehearse once a week and is open to anyone who is interested in playing, whether an experienced brass musician or someone who perhaps has had a significant break and wants to get back into it. I’m hopeful this will help to provide an environment for people to enjoy playing without the pressures and commitment of heavy contesting. The longer term aim will be to have the band undertake regular performances in the area both with Regent Brass and independently, and to participate in a light contest schedule to give players a real feel for how rewarding and enjoyable being involved in a band can be”
The band will rehearse on initially on Thursday evenings from 7-8pm in the Church of the Ascension, Wembley HA9 9QL. If interested, please contact Musical Director Alan Duguid for more information on 07764 556231 or by email at aduguid_82@hotmail.com.
