On Wednesday 21st August, Regent Brass returned to Westminster Abbey to perform a lunchtime concert in the college gardens. This particular event has been a key part of the band’s concert schedule for many years and always proves to be a thoroughly enjoyable experience for band and audience alike.
This year was certainly no different, with a very large number of people turning out to hear the band perform in a wide range of musical styles, from Richard Wagner and Guiseppe Verdi through to Harold Arlen and Elton John!
The band was also pleased to invite regular concert-goer and composer Brian Reynolds to conduct his Spanish march “Seven Senoritas” during the concert. Brian has written a range of works for wind band, but has only transcribed this one for brass band. His piece was very well received by the audience and we hope he will write more for brass band in the future.
The band would like to thank Rob Fox, Bethan Carney, Natasha Newson and Asako Mochizuki on Euphonium, Baritone, Cornet and Percussion respectively for performing with the band at this event.
