Regent Brass are pleased to announce the signing of two new players ahead of the London & Southern Counties Area Contest.
Joining the band on Bass Trombone is Phil Barnes. Phil brings a wealth of experience to the band, having played with the Luton Band in the top section in the past. Also re-joining the band from Aveley and Newham after a short spell is Alan Howard on Bb Bass.
Unfortunatley the band has to bid an extremely sad farewell to their principal trombonist, Tetsuro Okamura, who is returning home to his native Japan at the end of February. Stepping up to very capably to take over the mantle however is the band’s 2nd Trombonist, Tom Price, with Paul van Uden making the switch from the Bass Trombone seat to 2nd Trombone.
MD Alan Duguid said “Tetsu has been a huge asset to the band over the last year and a half, winning the “best soloist” prizes at the DFDS Seaways Contest, SCABA Entertainment Contest and SCABA Autumn Contest in 2012. In addition to this though, Tetsu has become a very popular member of the band and a good friend to us all, so we will be very sad to see him leave. Our new signings in Phil and Alan though have already strengthened the band, so I look forward to another great year of music-making with Regent Brass.
