The 9th September saw the very first public performance by Regent Community Brass, which was launched earlier this year. The band took part in the “Bandstand Marathon”, a nationwide event on the same day to get performers to use bandstands across the country. Performing in Battersea Park alongside the Lambeth Wind Orchestra, Lewisham Concert Band and Fulham Brass Band, the community band performed a variety of different pieces including “The Shadow of your Smile” featuring flugel horn soloist Lisa Neale and “Buglers Holiday” with cornet trio Francis Riebrand, Cath French and Mike Hurford. The band finished off their programme with an exciting performance of “Toccata in D Minor” to round off the afternoon’s music.

Earlier in the same day, Regent Brass performed at the Bandstand Marathon event in Gladstone Park in the borough of Brent. During the concert, the band performed a number of pieces which they will be recording for their CD in October, including solos from principal cornet Barbara King, principal euphonium John Gafney, flugel horn Vickie Curran and principal trombone Tetsuro Okamura.

Both bands would like to thank the guests who helped out at both events.
