Regent Brass would like to say a very big Congratulations to Principal Cornet William Thomas on getting through to the Category Finals of the BBC Young Musician 2014.
To progress from the first round in September, William had to pay an 8 minute programme. 25 players were chosen from this round to go through to the Brass Category Auditions. For this round William played repertoire by Leonard Bernstien and Eugene Bozza on Trumpet, and Dvorak’s Russalka’s song to the Moon arranged for Cornet.
The Finals will be held at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff on Friday 7th March 2014. William will be required to perform a programme of his own choice not exceeding 16 minutes in front of an audience, panel of adjudicators and the TV Cameras for broadcast at a later date on BBC4. Members of Regent Brass will certainly be tuning in for that broadcast!
