Regent Brass held its Annual General Meeting for 2014 on 30th January 2014.
The band was reported to be in a good shape with a stable membership. The
appointment of Paul Archibald as the new MD, has given the band a confidence
boost as he prepares them for the challenges that lie ahead at Stevenage,
for the London & Southern Counties Championships on 16th March and, the
band’s debut visit to the Spring Festival in Blackpool on 26th April.
Following discussion surrounding topics such as Chairman’s remarks, the
reports from treasurer and MD etc., the election of the new committee took
place. This saw the appointment of Michael O’Shaughnessy as Chairman,
Martin Pearce as Secretary/Contest Secretary, Chris Kirk as Band Manager and
David D’Costa as Treasurer. David Quinlan and Ed Parker were also welcomed
onto the committee.
Representing Regent Community Brass on the committee in 2014 will be Bryan Long and Lisa Neale.
Finally, the announcement of the awards for 2013. The two awards are for
Bandsman of the Year and Player of the Year. The recipient of the first
award is selected by the committee and was presented to David Quinlan, the
band’s Soprano Cornet. The second award was selected, by the outgoing MD,
Alan Duguid, to go to John Gafney, the band’s Principal Euphonium.
